Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is truly a silent achiever. From what I have seen in Gombe, his leadership speaks through tangible impact, not mere words. Excellence does not need to announce itself—it is reflected in actions.
From February 18th to 21st, the Gombe State Government hosted a training program for Local Government Chairmen, aimed at promoting effective governance and implementing impactful reforms.
The summit, themed Local Government Autonomy, Fiscal Responsibility, and Sustainable Development, provided a platform for critical discussions on strengthening local administration.
The event featured presentations from key national figures, including H.E. Senator Dr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs, Office of the SGF.
Olanipekun Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Musa Aliyu, SAN, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), both presented insightful papers on strategies, tools, and best practices for combating corruption.
On the first day, I participated in a panel discussion, where we examined the summit’s theme in depth with senior colleagues.
On day two, I delivered a paper titled Strengthening Governance at the Local Government Level to Deliver Reforms and Essential Services, emphasizing the critical role of local government leadership in driving reforms and improving service delivery.
In conclusion, I encouraged all Local Government Chairmen to take inspiration from Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, a leader whose results define his legacy, not the pursuit of recognition. True leadership is measured by impact. Let your achievements be the voice that truly matters.
This has been a week well spent, sharing insights with the level of government closest to the people. I truly enjoyed the conversations, especially the discussions on result-driven strategies for delivering impact at the local government level.
